‘SEVEN SUICIDES, AND THEY ROARED BACK AS… THE LIVING DEAD!’
On the 24th of January, Video Bazaar welcomes you back to The Garden Cinema to rise from the dead after the festive period to present a cult relic of British cinema, Don Sharp’s tale of occult bikers coming back from the grave, Psychomania aka The Death Wheelers.
The film introduces us to Tom Latham, played by Nicky Henson, a leader of a motorcycle gang with a thirst for the supernatural. The group, known as 'The Living Dead,' is not your typical gang; they have a fascination with the occult and a desire for immortality.
The gang discover a mysterious secret that promises life after death, and they become determined to unlock this supernatural power. The key to this power lies in a centuries-old secret involving a pact with the devil. Their pursuit of immortality takes a paranormal turn, blending elements of black magic, the occult, and a dash of dark humour.
Psychomania stands out not only for its bizarre storyline but also for its distinctive visual style, psychedelic soundtrack by John Cameron’s band Frog, and the rebellious spirit of the 1970s counterculture. It has since gained a cult following for its eccentricity and offbeat charm.
This screening is presented by the cult film collective, Video Bazaar, who are proud to present this rarely screened film and are dedicated to bringing the weird, the obscure and forgotten classics to London audiences at The Garden Cinema. Please note this event will feature an intro and a pre-show screening of carefully curated trailers plus a mystery short film.
