Kino Short Film presents some of the best shorts of the year for their BIFA qualifying film festival.


EDEN - Eden Elgeti was part way through her male to female transition when she realised she wanted biological children in the future. Told she was now unable to produce fertile sperm after the hormone treatments, a medical practitioner suggested cold water might help reverse the effects and so she started extreme cold water swimming.


THE SPRAYER - In the land occupied with the sprayers army, no one has the right to grow any kind of plants either in public or private. So many of the people and soldiers do not even know how dose a plant grows or look like, until one day one of the soldiers finds a seed buried deep down in the dust and his curiosity is just the beginning of something extraordinary, something big, something revolutionary.


EVERYBODY DIES... SOMETIMES - A dark comedy about death anxiety that follows MARA as she grapples with the belief that she has killed everybody she's gotten close to.


WHO'S COUNTING - The story of a couple as they endure the pain and trauma of successive miscarriages.


OTHER HALF - As an Individual Being in a world comprised of Merged Couples, Ren longs to find his other half and become complete.


SEM - In a world where water has special powers, a couple picks flowers throughout the forest to put them in a very precious place.


PICTURING WONDERLAND - An experimental snapshot of the experience of living with a degenerative blindness.


DEAD CAT FILM - A young woman becomes increasingly attached to the taxidermied corpse of her housemate’s cat. A dark comedy starring Will Gao (Heartstopper/Netflix), Josie Charles and featuring the voice of Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Notting Hill). This short was produced by Rasp Films who were BAFTA-nominated in 2021 for their short Lucky Break.


NOTHER FEAT. MOON LEAP - US - A chef teaches his young colleague how to dance to prepare him for a very special date.


ERIC - Joshua finally gets to meet Eric, the beloved dog of a girl he’s been dating. As the evening evolves, Josh begins to get a sneaking suspicion that Eric isn’t your typical house pet.


MAN - A man is thrown into black void, seemingly with no escape.


STIFF UPPER LIP - In a launderette late at night, a schoolboy finds a man sobbing alone beside his dryer.
