Saul Williams’ landmark Neptune Frost, a radical Afro-futurist sci-fi punk musical about a daring intersex hacker is visually stunning and thematically rich. This rousing exploration of uprising and rebellion against an authoritarian dictatorship exploiting a region for natural resources speaks to ideas of personal agency as well as climate issues.
To introduce the screening, David Kwah Mensah and Liz Chege will be discussing the abundance and complexities of Afro futurist utopias from a classic in the making.
Screening as part of BLACK to the FUTURE. An Afro-Futurist celebration of outstanding Black artists, a space for visionary imaginings to thrive.
