Cinema Rising Presents: Cold Water 15

Screened in partnership with Cinema Rising
Olivier Assayas, France, 1994, 95m.

This early masterpiece from legendary French filmmaker Olivier Assayas is a primal coming-of-age film about two troubled teenagers in the 1970s straining against the confines of their suburban existence.

Cold Water draws closely from Assayas’ own adolescence, with a soundtrack that includes Leonard Cohen, Roxy Music, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Bursting with energy and angst, Cold Water beautifully captures the total chaos of young love.

The screening will be followed by drinks and a DJ set by Snowdrop inspired by the film in The Garden Cinema bar.

This night is presented by Cinema Rising, a London-based film project that includes a podcast, an online journal, and a programme of in-person events.

Virginie Ledoyen, Cyprien Fouquet, László Szabó, Jean-Pierre Darroussin
