Freedom From Torture: No Borders Film Night 18

Freedom From Torture present an evening of powerful and award winning refugee short films and poetry written by members of Write to Life, followed by a Q&A and panel discussion. All proceeds will go to Freedom From Torture.


The evening will feature poems written and performed by Write to Life, the world’s only long running creative writing group for survivors of torture, and showcase five outstanding short films touching on the themes of borders, displacement and resilience.


This will be followed by a panel Q&A with filmmakers Samin Saadat, Klaas Diersmann, Ara Devine and spcial guests, with an open discussion on the lack of safe routes to the UK that forces refugees to embark on dangerous and harrowing journeys.

Ten Weeks (Reza Shademan/UK/2022)

Young married illegal migrants, torn apart during the harrowing journey, meet at their destination after ten weeks apart and face the unforeseen devastating impact on their lives.

A refugee is not quite himself when he gets washed ashore on the coast of Dover and finds himself quickly taken advantage of.


Freedom From Torture provide specialist psychological therapy to asylum seekers and refugees who have survived torture, helping them recover and rebuild their lives in the UK.


With survivors, we campaign for change. Together, we raise awareness and influence decision-makers about torture and its impact.


All proceeds from this event will go to Freedom From Torture.
