Due to popular demand, we're very excited to be welcoming back the team from Sake Collective for another tasting session, as part of our Japanese Golden Age season.
Sake Collective are a London based sake shop & bar, dedicated to creating a new community of people around sake and other traditional Japanese drinks. They have been supplying The Garden Bar with a few varieties to be enjoyed throughout the season. During the Sake Tasting, you'll not only get a chance to try the different varieties on our menu, but they will also provide a few additional sakes, taking us through a range of styles, while also teaching us about the history of this Japanese social lubricant.
This Sake Tasting will take place on Friday 5 April 18:30, and takes place during a weekend where we're celebrating the life and work of the late Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. We invite you to toast to the memory and music of Sakamoto with the opportunity to create a double bill with the 20:30 screening of Nagisa Oshima's classic tale of repressed desire, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.
Tickets for the Sake Tasting are just £25, and are restricted to 2 per member. Booking will open on Thursday 28 March at 13:00. Please log into your membership account before booking.
We're offering a multibuy discount for any members purchasing tickets for the Sake Tasting and the screening of Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence that follows it: when both tickets are in the shopping basket, the ticket price for the screening will automatically be reduced to just £5.00!

I just tried to book the film as well as this members event and somehow it will not recognise me as a member when I tried to do this. It will not assign the tickets to me. I’ve managed to book the sake event but without the film. Can box office fix this?
We’re aware of this issue with the discount and trying to resolve with our software provider. Could you email the box office in the mean time? info@thegardencinema.co.uk

Is this event only available at 18:30?
As we are booked in to see the Sakamoto: Opus film at 18:00 on that same day.
Hi Peter,
I’m so sorry but this was the only space we could find in our busy schedule for April!
If you’d like to move your tickets for Opus to another date, feel free to contact our box office team (info@thegardencinema.co.uk) and they can amend your booking for you – just let them know which screening you’d like to attend instead. Please note…[Read more]
Many thanks Marloes for your reply.
We’ll stick to the original booking & have a glass of sake at the bar to toast the brilliance of Sakamoto.
I think I saw you guys have sake for sale.
