Video Bazaar is proud to present a rare screening of the enigmatic and divisive film, Boxing Helena, directed by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of famed director, David Lynch. Plagued by financial battles and released in 1993 to critical and commercial failure, Boxing Helena is an audacious and controversial film that  has since become a cult classic that marked the directorial debut of Lynch, who at the time of the films release was only 25 years of age.

 

Starring Sherilyn Fenn and the late Julian Sands, the film follows the story of Dr. Nick Cavanaugh, a talented surgeon haunted by his unrequited love for a beautiful woman named Helena. Driven by an overwhelming desire to possess her, he spirals into a dark obsession, resorting to extreme measures to ensure she remains by his side.

 

This rare screening is your chance to see this divisive and provocative Hollywood pariah, so join us on Saturday the 29th of July as we blur the lines between reality and fantasy, high and low art, commercial failure and cult fandom for Jennifer Lynch’s Boxing Helena.

 

This screening is presented by the cult film collective, Video Bazaar, who are proud to present this rarely screened film and are dedicated to bringing the weird, the obscure and forgotten classics to London audiences at The Garden Cinema.
