Women in Love 15

Ken Russell, UK, 1969, 131m.

This film was proposed by our member Greg Gordon, who writes: 'This was arguably Glenda Jackson’s finest performance. And a great Ken Russell film. Few members may have seen this on a big screen but it’s unforgettable!'

Growing up in the sheltered confines of a 1920’s English coal-mining community, free-spirited sisters Gudrun and Ursula explore erotic love with a wealthy playboy and a philosophical educator, with cataclysmic results for all four.

  • This is a really great choice thankyou , and for me a very ambiguous film.. for some men of a certain generation the wrestling scene in the library was perhaps an awakening..and Ms Jackson’s performance is full of spirit and sensuality..and a big shout out to Eleanor Bron ..perhaps invite her down for a Q&A beforehand or to say a few words ?
