Current Season:

Jean Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy

Sat 10 May — Tue 20 May 2025

A polymath of surrealism, Jean Cocteau’s astonishing breadth of work as a playwright, an artist, a novelist and poet, and as a filmmaker, left an enduring and highly original legacy. Throughout his career, Cocteau returned repeatedly to the myth of Orpheus, seeing his relationship with his own work, and with the Parisian art community, reflected in the story of the tragic musician. We are delighted to present all three of these wonderfully playful masterpieces of surrealist cinema: the Orphic Trilogy.

Please note that the first film in the trilogy, The Blood of the Poet, has a running time of 55 minutes. All screenings of this title will be sold at matinee pricing.
